The State Chemistry has detected the substance GBL (gamma-Butyrolactone) in the water cooler in Larnaca, which caused the death of a 78-year-old and illness in four other people. The test results are considered crucial for the investigation, with the Police continuing their investigation to determine how the substance ended up in the water. Statements are being taken from the victims' environment, and so far no other people have been identified as having consumed water from the same cooler. The case is being treated as particularly sensitive and requires a full evaluation of the scientific findings. GBL overdose can be difficult to treat due to its multiple effects on the body.
