‘Golden Age’ of Eclipses Begins in 2026: Blood Moon, Ring of Fire, and Total Eclipse – When to Watch

A rare series of eclipses, three total solar and three annular, is expected between 2026 and 2028. It will begin on February 17, 2026, with an annular eclipse visible only in Antarctica. A total lunar eclipse ('blood moon') will follow on March 3, 2026, visible from Western North America, Australia, New Zealand, East Asia, and the Pacific. The first total solar eclipse will be visible on August 12, 2026, from eastern Greenland, western Iceland, and northern Spain. 2027 is expected to see the longest total solar eclipse of the century, visible from southern Spain, North Africa, and the Middle East, while in 2028 totality will return to Australia and New Zealand.
