Golden Cross Lost During Epiphany Celebrations in Ayia Napa

The Epiphany celebrations took place today in Ayia Napa with the presence of the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, and the Metropolitan of Constantia and Ammochostos, Basil. Ms. Dimitriou wished for a good Epiphany and redemption for Cyprus, while Metropolitan Basil wished for a renewal of baptism and reunification of the country. During the blessing of the waters, the gold cross thrown into the sea was not immediately found, resulting in wooden crosses being thrown afterwards. The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, thanked those present and expressed his wish for the reunification of Cyprus in 2026. The ceremony also included a service at the Holy Church of Ayia Napa, a procession, and the release of doves.
