Illegal to Uproot Wildflowers: Fines and Imprisonment Possible

The Forestry Department reminds the public that uprooting or cutting wildflowers and shrubs is illegal and carries a fine or imprisonment. The collection of flora, destruction of habitats, and uprooting of protected species are punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a monetary fine of up to €5,000, or both. Illegal flower picking threatens the ecological balance and the natural heritage of Cyprus.
