Income and Living Conditions Survey of Households to Begin

The Statistical Service of Cyprus announced the commencement of the Income and Living Conditions Survey of Households for the year 2026. The survey, which has been conducted annually since 2005, is mandatory for all member states of the European Union, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/1700. The purpose of the survey is to collect time series data for the study of household living conditions, with an emphasis on their income, at European and national level. The data obtained are used to calculate important socio-economic indicators. Among these indicators are the 'At-Risk-of-Poverty Threshold', 'Income Quintiles', 'Risk of Poverty and Social Exclusion' indicators, and 'Severe Material and Social Deprivation' indicators. These indicators help in the design and implementation of the state's social policy. The survey will be conducted on a sample basis, covering 5,000 households in urban and rural areas of Cyprus, during the months of January - September 2026. Trained enumerators will contact households in the sample to inform them and arrange appointments to complete the questionnaire.
