Indonesia: Aircraft with 11 People on Board Lost Contact

Authorities in Indonesia are conducting searches for a small aircraft belonging to Indonesia Air Transport, which lost contact while flying over eastern Indonesia. There were 11 people on board the aircraft: three passengers and eight crew members. The plane had departed from Yogyakarta, Java, bound for Makassar, South Sulawesi. Contact was lost around 1:00 PM local time (08:00 AM Greece time). The search is focused on a mountainous area near Makassar, where the last signal from the aircraft was recorded. Rescue teams, the air force, police, and volunteers are participating in the search. A helicopter and drones have been dispatched to the area to locate the aircraft. Authorities have not yet released information regarding the circumstances that led to the loss of contact.
