Intensive Food Checks Ahead of Holidays by the Ministry of Health - First Findings

The Ministry of Health is conducting intensive food checks in supermarkets ahead of the holidays, with the aim of safeguarding public health. The Deputy Director General of the Ministry, Elisavet Konstantinou, expressed her satisfaction with the compliance with safety and hygiene rules observed during her on-site visits to supermarkets in Engomi. The checks, which began on December 8 and will last until December 31, focus on compliance with health and food safety regulations. Ms. Konstantinou stated that the findings are encouraging, with most supermarkets fully complying with the regulations. In rare cases, minor omissions were identified regarding cleanliness, for which immediate recommendations were given. Where necessary, food withdrawals were carried out to ensure public health. The Ministry of Health calls on the public to feel safe during their shopping during the festive season, assuring them that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the hygiene and safety of food.
