The visit of the European Commission's College of Commissioners to Limassol, led by Ursula von der Leyen, marked the close coordination between Cyprus and the EU during the Cypriot presidency of the Council of the EU. Cyprus pledged to act as an honest broker on critical issues such as security, competitiveness, and migration. The European Commission approved Cyprus's national plan for the SAFE program, securing funding of €1.18 billion. Furthermore, the importance of maintaining support for Ukraine and promoting its accession process was discussed. The visit highlighted the need for an autonomous and open EU, capable of addressing the growing geopolitical and economic challenges.
