Anti-government protests in Iran continue for the 13th day, with thousands of protesters taking to the streets across the country, despite the internet shutdown. Protesters are chanting slogans against the leadership, including “Death to Khamenei.” According to the NGO Iran Human Rights, at least 51 protesters, including nine children, have been killed since the start of the demonstrations. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has stated that the country will not back down in the face of the protests, while the Revolutionary Guards have warned of defending the Islamic Revolution. The judiciary has warned of severe punishments for rioters. Exiled Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadi expresses fears of potential bloodshed.
