Iranian Foreign Minister: Open to Talks with US, But Ready for War

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stated that Tehran remains open to negotiations with the United States, but only if they are based on “mutual respect and common interests.” At the same time, he emphasized that Iran is ready for war if that is Washington's intention. Amir-Abdollahian made these statements during a press conference in Beirut, where he is on a visit. The purpose of his visit is to discuss the “challenges and threats” that, he claims, Israel poses to regional security, as well as to strengthen bilateral relations with Lebanon. The Iranian Foreign Minister made his trip to Lebanon accompanied by an economic delegation, with the aim of exploring new opportunities for cooperation. However, Lebanon's invitation to Amir-Abdollahian to visit Iran was rejected, with Lebanon proposing that talks be held in a neutral third country. Amir-Abdollahian's statements reflect the tense situation in relations between Iran and the United States, as well as growing concerns about regional security. Iran's willingness to negotiate, alongside its preparation for war, underscores the complex and uncertain nature of the situation.
