Jozi Christodoulou: 'Decisive Step' for Gender Equality with 2026 Law

Cyprus has passed the 'Law on the Integration of the Gender Dimension,' which is considered a decisive step towards achieving substantial equality between women and men. The law makes gender equality a basic parameter at every stage of public policy-making and in the preparation of the state budget. It introduces a systematic process for assessing the different impact of decisions on women and men, aiming to strengthen social justice and a fairer distribution of state resources. Furthermore, it institutionalizes the systematic collection of gender-disaggregated statistics, enhancing the ability to design more targeted policies. The Commissioner for Gender Equality, Jozi Christodoulou, described the law as one of the most important reforms in the field of gender equality.
