Keravnos to attend Eurogroup premiere with Pierrakakis

The Minister of Finance of Cyprus, Makis Keravnos, will travel to Brussels to participate in the Eurogroup meeting and chair the Council of Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN) on January 19 and 20. The first Eurogroup meeting under the presidency of Kyriakos Pierrakakis will focus on Bulgaria's progress towards adopting the Euro and the Eurozone's economic policy priorities for 2026. Within the framework of ECOFIN, the economic and fiscal impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine will be discussed, and the revised Recovery and Resilience Plans (RRF) of several countries, including Spain, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Finland, will be adopted. Furthermore, the Ministers of Finance will adopt Conclusions on the 2026 Alert Mechanism Report, which identifies countries requiring further analysis of macroeconomic imbalances. Finally, a decision to initiate an excessive deficit procedure for Finland is expected.
