Large Drug Haul in Paphos: 24-Year-Old Arrested

A 24-year-old Syrian man was arrested in Paphos for the illegal possession of narcotics. During a vehicle check, small amounts of cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine were found. A subsequent search of his apartment revealed large quantities of drugs, including captagon pills (also known as “jihadist pills”), methamphetamine (crystal), ecstasy, cocaine, cannabis, and cannabis resin, as well as a sum of money. The suspect was driving without a license and under the influence of drugs, as confirmed by a drug test. The YKAN (Cyprus Drug Squad) continues its investigations in collaboration with the Paphos Traffic Police to determine the origin of the drugs and investigate the possible involvement of other individuals. The amount of drugs seized suggests that the 24-year-old was involved in drug trafficking. The captagon pills, found in large quantities, are known for their use by militant groups in the Middle East. The possession and trafficking of these pills is a serious offense. YKAN is focusing on interrogating the suspect to reveal his accomplices and determine the route of the drugs from their country of origin to Cyprus. This arrest is part of the police's efforts to combat drug trafficking in Cyprus. YKAN has intensified checks and investigations throughout Cyprus, aiming to dismantle criminal networks involved in drug trafficking. The case will be brought before the courts to determine the guilt or innocence of the suspect.
