Larnaca: Two Businessmen Held for Conspiracy and Shooting

Two businessmen, aged 47 and 43, have been remanded in custody for four days following a court decision, as suspects in interfering with a judicial process and conspiracy to commit a crime. The arrests are related to the altercation and shooting that took place in the center of Larnaca last Saturday. The 47-year-old is additionally charged with illegal possession of property. According to the Police, the two men had met with the complainant in the case on January 21st. The arrests were made during a coordinated operation, and during searches of the 47-year-old's office, a large sum of money and bank checks were found and confiscated. In addition, three individuals working as security guards without the necessary permit were arrested, and a vehicle was also seized. The 43-year-old was arrested later at his home. Both businessmen deny the charges. In total, six people are in custody for the shooting, including the 48-year-old who is considered the leader of the group. Police allege that the group was demanding money for “protection” from businessmen, threatening them with knives and attacking with gunfire when they refused to pay.
