Limassol Court Prioritizes Thanasis Nicolaou Case: Focus on Evidence and Preliminary Objections

The Limassol District Court is prioritizing the case of the private criminal prosecutions brought by the family of Thanasis Nicolaou. Today's proceedings focused on the non-delivery of evidence to the defense and the preliminary objections that the lawyers of the five defendants will raise. The defendants are forensic doctor Panikos Stavrianos, former Limassol Police Chief Andreas Iatropoulos, former Limassol TAE head Nikos Sofocleous, former Rural Area head Christakis Nathanail, and former Lania police station head Christakis Kapiliotis, who is representing himself. The defense protested the delay in delivering the evidence, which amounts to approximately 5,500 pages, and argued that this affects the preparation of their preliminary objections. They also reported defamation of their clients in the media by the family's lawyer and the family itself. The court decided to deliver all the evidence in digital format (USB) to the defense lawyers and in printed format to Mr. Kapiliotis within ten days. The next hearing is scheduled for February 19, when the preliminary objections for a fair trial will be examined.
