Lithuania to Spend €320M on Swedish Missile Defense System

Lithuania plans to purchase portable air defense systems RBS-70 NG worth over €320 million to strengthen its defense capabilities, the Ministry of Defense announced. The contract follows previous agreements and ensures the continued supply of weapons to the Lithuanian armed forces until 2032. The Lithuanian Minister of Defense stated that strengthening air defense is a priority for the country, given its geopolitical position and the threat from the war in Ukraine. Lithuania already has RBS 70 systems and plans to purchase additional anti-tank ammunition and grenade launchers from Saab. The country plans to allocate 5.38% of its GDP to defense in 2026.
