Man Arrested in Paphos for Threatening Game Wardens with Firearm

A 66-year-old man was arrested in Paphos for illegal hunting. Members of the Game and Fauna Service, during a patrol in the Acheleia area, heard gunshots and located two individuals. One possessed a flober firearm and was shooting, while a wild bird fell dead from a tree. When the game wardens attempted to check the individuals, the 66-year-old turned the gun against them and threatened them before both fled. The 66-year-old was arrested, while his accomplice escaped. Eighteen freshly killed songbirds were found in his possession, and two live cartridges and four spent cartridges were discovered at the hunting site. The case has been assigned to the Paphos TAE for further investigation. The arrest was made as part of the Game and Fauna Service's efforts to protect wildlife and combat illegal hunting.
