Man Arrested Over AEK-Anorthosis Match Disorder

A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the Larnaca Police in connection with the incidents that occurred during the AEK – Anorthosis football match on January 4, 2026. The arrest was made as part of an investigation into offenses such as assault on a police officer, rioting, and brawling. According to testimonies, an arrest warrant was obtained based on the evidence. Investigations are ongoing to determine the man's involvement in a specific incident with a steward, where pepper spray was allegedly used. Security camera footage is also being examined to identify other individuals involved in the incidents, where fans threw objects at police officers. The suspect was questioned and charged at the Larnaca District Court. The court decided to temporarily ban him from attending football stadiums until the case is heard.
