Manchester United at Lowest Ever Ranking in Deloitte's Money League

Manchester United has recorded its lowest-ever ranking in Deloitte's Money League, falling to 8th place. This is the first time the club has been outside the top five, where it has been for many years. The decline is primarily due to the club's sporting performance, which has negatively impacted television and matchday revenues. According to the revenues for the 2023-24 period, three Premier League clubs – Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal – are now above United. This season is expected to bring a further reduction in revenues of around £90 million, which could also affect the ranking for next year. The main reasons for the loss of revenue include ten fewer home games at Old Trafford (resulting in losses of around £50 million), a £10 million clause from Adidas due to non-participation in the Champions League, and a loss of around £30 million from last year's Europa League run. A Deloitte executive stated that United's decline is directly linked to its performance on the pitch and is expected to have consequences in future financial reports.
