More Rain Than Usual in December: The Regions Most Affected

The average rainfall in the free areas of Cyprus during December amounted to 116% of the normal, according to preliminary data from the Department of Meteorology. Specifically, a total average rainfall of 122.8 millimeters was recorded, compared to the normal December rainfall of 105.6 millimeters. From October 1st, the start of the hydrological year, to January 1st, the total rainfall was 159.2 millimeters, which corresponds to 83% of the normal for this period. The areas with the highest rainfall were Polis Chrysochous (219.2 mm - 220% of normal), the Stavros tis Psokas area (249.3 mm - 154% of normal), Athalasassa in Nicosia (83.3 mm - 144% of normal) and Athienou (88.1 mm - 144% of normal).
