Mystery Surrounds Death and Hospitalizations in Larnaca

One 78-year-old man has died and four others are hospitalized in critical condition after potentially consuming a narcotic or chemical substance at a residence in Larnaca. Authorities believe the consumption was accidental and are awaiting the results of scientific tests, including an autopsy, to determine the exact cause of the poisoning and advance the investigation. The hospitalized individuals are the deceased's mother, sister, brother-in-law, and a neighbor who is in the ICU. The victim's son, who is on trial for drug-related offenses and has previously been involved with the YKAN (Cyprus Drug and Addiction Control Authority), is under scrutiny. Investigations are underway to determine if the son was hiding narcotics or substitutes that may have caused the poisoning. The water consumed by the victims is also being examined.
