New Year Marked by Pain and Uncertainty for Palestinians

The Palestinian Ambassador to Cyprus, Abdallah Attari, stated that the New Year finds the Palestinian people in conditions of unprecedented pain and uncertainty. While the world celebrates, Palestinians face a daily struggle for survival in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli blockade and military operations have caused an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, with hundreds of thousands of displaced people living in appalling conditions. The bad weather exacerbates the situation, threatening the lives of the most vulnerable. In the occupied West Bank, Palestinians face escalating attacks by settlers, arrests, house demolitions, and movement restrictions. Access to holy sites is often impossible. In East Jerusalem, residents experience constant pressure, displacement, and attempts to alter the character of the city. Despite the difficulties, the Palestinian people maintain their hope for freedom, justice, and peace. Ambassador Attari sends a message of peace to all the peoples of the world, wishing for an end to the occupation and a just peace for Palestine.
