Oil: Canada to Replace Venezuela as Key Supplier to China

Chinese refineries are turning to Canada as an alternative source of crude oil supply following the US blockade of oil flows from Venezuela, which drastically limited China's imports last week. China, traditionally a major buyer of Venezuelan oil, is seeking alternatives due to increased US pressure and the arrest of Nicolás Maduro. Canadian oil is considered a suitable substitute for Venezuela's heavy crude oil. In addition to Canada, other sources such as Brazil are being considered, however, its production capacity is already limited due to existing exports to China. This shift in procurement policy reflects growing geopolitical tensions and the US effort to weaken Venezuela's economic influence.
