Paphos Winter Swimmers Welcome the New Year with a Dip in the Sea

The winter swimmers of the 'Vrysouthkia Kelpetri' Association in Paphos welcomed the new year with a symbolic dip in the icy waters of the sea. The event took place at the Municipal Baths, where the swimmers exchanged wishes for health and a happy new year, accompanied by traditional food and drinks. The Mayor of Paphos, Faidonas Faidonos, attended the event and cut the Vasilopita (New Year's cake), emphasizing the municipality's support for the institution and the city's maritime identity. He also announced the complete renovation of the Municipal Baths, aiming to make them more functional and user-friendly. The president of the Association, Agni Charalambous, thanked the municipal authorities for their support and stressed the importance of the Municipal Baths as a 'showcase' for Paphos—a place where people and the sea coexist harmoniously. The event was a celebration of life and a reminder of the love for the sea, as well as the responsibility to protect marine wealth. Despite the weather difficulties, the winter swimmers maintained the tradition and sent a message of hope and optimism for the new year.
