Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality Invests in its History – Archaeological Sites to be Highlighted

The Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality has launched an ambitious effort to highlight the rich history and cultural heritage of the area, leveraging significant archaeological treasures that have been discovered. The strategy includes the promotion of archaeological sites, the creation of museums and theme parks, and the designation of archaeological routes. Mayor Giorgos Nikolettos emphasized that the history of the area is inextricably linked to its identity and that its promotion is a key factor in attracting visitors and boosting the local economy. The effort is based on close cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Department of Antiquities. One of the most important archaeological sites highlighted is the archaeological settlement of Nisiai in Protaras, the largest Neolithic settlement in the province of Famagusta. Another site expected to be promoted is the Tomb of the Queen on Fig Tree Bay beach. The Municipality aims to create a comprehensive tourism product that combines the beauty of nature with the history and culture of the area, building a strong narrative of identity and offering a unique experience to visitors.
