A collision between two trains traveling to Machu Picchu in Peru has resulted in at least 15 tourists being injured, one seriously. Reports indicate a train driver has died, though this has not been officially confirmed. The collision occurred at 1:20 PM local time on the railway line connecting the community of Ollantaytambo with the ancient city. Ferrocarril Transandino, the company operating the line, stated that trains from Inca Rail and PeruRail were involved, causing injuries and property damage. Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage site, receives thousands of visitors daily, who reach the area by train and bus. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
