Poachers Caught Shooting Wild Bird – Threatened Game Wardens with a Gun

Last night, around 8:20 PM, members of the Game and Fauna Service, during a patrol in an area in the village of Acheleia, Paphos, discovered two individuals shooting a wild bird. When the Game Wardens attempted to check them, one of the suspects pointed his (flobert-type) gun at them and threatened them, while both then fled. The Game Wardens managed to arrest one suspect, a 66-year-old man, while the other escaped. In the possession of the 66-year-old, 18 freshly killed songbirds were found. In addition, at the site where the shots were fired, another freshly killed songbird, two full flobert cartridges, and four empty flobert cartridges were discovered. The 66-year-old was arrested for immediate offenses and the case has been assigned to the Paphos TAE for further investigation.
