Poachers Fire at Gamekeepers in Paphos

Poachers opened fire on gamekeepers in the Paphos district during a patrol. The incident occurred last night in the village of Acheleia area, when the gamekeepers heard gunshots and located two individuals, one of whom was firing a flobert-type gun. During the shooting, a wild bird fell from a nearby tree. When the gamekeepers attempted to check them, one of the suspects turned against them with the weapon and threatened them. Both suspects fled, but the gamekeepers managed to arrest one, a 66-year-old man. Eighteen freshly killed partridges were found in his possession, along with an additional partridge, two full and four empty flobert cartridges at the scene. The 66-year-old was arrested for immediate offenses, and the Police are investigating the case, while the second suspect remains at large.
