POED Adopts Dynamic Plan to Tackle School Violence, Including Potential Strikes and School Closures

POED has adopted a dynamic action plan from the Progressive Teachers' Movement to address the issue of school violence and delinquency. The plan includes dynamic responses, such as work stoppages or the closure of specific school units in serious cases, as well as the creation of a “Unified Framework for Claiming” for the prevention and management of violence. Furthermore, it proposes systematic recording of violent incidents, meetings with the Ministry of Education, a ten-day public awareness campaign, and the development of a strong communication strategy with press releases and media coverage. POED reports an unprecedented surge in violence, which may be linked to the devaluation of the teaching profession due to the new evaluation system, and calls for accountability and support measures.
