Police Arrest 32-Year-Old for Assaulting Officers at AEK Arena

Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with an assault against police officers during the AEK – ANORTHOSIS football match at AEK Arena stadium in Larnaca, on January 4, 2026. The arrest followed an investigation into offenses of assault, rioting, and affray. According to the Police, testimony emerged leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant against the 32-year-old. Following his interrogation, the case was registered at the Larnaca District Court. The court issued a stadium ban order against the 32-year-old until the case is heard. This measure aims to prevent further violent incidents at sporting events. The Larnaca Police continue their investigations to identify other individuals involved in the incident and reveal all the circumstances that led to the assault.
