Police, Crime and Prisons at the Forefront of Fytiris's Interventions

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Konstantinos Fytiris, expressed his satisfaction with the level of operation of the Police, after on-site visits and briefings at the Police Directorates of Paphos and Limassol. He emphasized the spirit of cooperation and professionalism that prevails, despite the difficulties, and stated that the State and the Police must function as tools at the service of society. The Minister announced that requests for the technological upgrade and resolution of chronic problems of the Police will be promoted, as well as the increase of controls and investigations, with the aim of reducing crime. He praised the work of the personnel and stressed that the Chief's program has already yielded results. Regarding the Central Prisons, Mr. Fytiris described the issue as “thorny” and announced that he will continue on-site inspections to form a complete picture of the situation. He announced specific measures to improve the prison system, including the evaluation and addressing of problems, such as the need for a mobile phone jamming system.
