Police Raids and Checks Lead to Nine Arrests for Drug Driving and Other Offenses

The Cyprus Police conducted enhanced preventative operations across the island, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals for various offenses. In Limassol, four people were arrested for carrying knives, illegal possession of property, traffic offenses, and assault on a police officer. Additionally, a 23-year-old was arrested with drugs and offensive weapons in his possession, and a kilogram of cannabis was found at his home. Two more individuals were arrested in the provinces of Larnaca and Paphos for outstanding warrants for fines and failure to appear in court. At the same time, extensive checks were carried out on premises to prevent illegal activities. During road network checks, over 400 checks were carried out, resulting in over 110 traffic violations. Nine of these concerned driving under the influence of drugs. Seven cars and one motorcycle were impounded, and a stolen motorcycle was also found. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing and enhanced preventative plan by the Police, with increased police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action in all provinces, in order to prevent crime and enhance the sense of security of citizens.
