Poll in Israel Signals Potential Shift in Political Landscape

A recent poll by the Israeli newspaper “Maariv” shows a potential change in Israel's political landscape. The opposition bloc reaches the threshold of 61 seats needed to form a government, even without the support of the two Arab parties. According to the survey, the governing bloc under Benjamin Netanyahu falls to 49 seats (from 51 in the previous measurement), while the opposition is strengthened due to losses by Likud and Otzma Yehudit, as well as the rise of other opposition parties. Netanyahu remains the most popular candidate for prime minister with 37%, followed by Bennett with 21%, Eisenkot with 12%, and Lapid with 8%. A 14% of respondents state that none are suitable. Israeli views on the situation in Gaza are divided, with 41% considering it a success and 42% a failure, reflecting the deep social and political rift in the country.
