President: Cooperation with DIKO Exemplary Based on Results

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, described the cooperation with DIKO as “exemplary”, stating that it is based on the results of the government. He made the statement on the sidelines of a visit to the Conference Center in Nicosia, which will host events of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The statement followed a question regarding the statements of the President of DIKO, Nikola Papadopoulos, who called on the Government to answer whether it shares the views of the Minister of Labor, Marinos Mousiouttas, that DIKO’s reactions have pre-election motives. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of DIKO’s contribution, as well as that of other parties, to the success of significant reforms. He specifically mentioned the tax transformation, the evaluation of teachers, and the upgrading of Cyprus’s international position. He pointed out that this cooperation has led to a strong economy with high growth rates and full employment. When asked about Mr. Papadopoulos’s view that supporting the Government has a cost for the party, the President replied that he respects the opinion of the President of DIKO and cannot speak on his behalf.
