Progress Without Resolution on Territorial Issues in Trump-Zelensky Meeting in Florida

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida concluded on a positive note, but without a definitive agreement on the territorial issue. Both leaders acknowledged significant progress, with Zelensky estimating that an agreement has been reached on 90% of a peace framework and Trump stating that security guarantees for Ukraine are close to 95%. However, the issue of territorial settlement, and specifically the fate of the Donbas region, remains thorny. Russia currently controls approximately 20% of Ukrainian territory, with the majority located in the Donbas. While Trump suggested that the situation on the ground could change depending on the development of operations, the Russian side seeks full sovereignty in the region, while Ukraine proposes the idea of a free economic zone.
