Hungarian director Béla Tarr, known for his long takes and black-and-white films, has died today at the age of 70. Tarr was one of the most important representatives of Hungarian cinema, with a body of work often characterized by dark themes and desolate landscapes. Among his most famous films is 'Satantango' (1994), a seven-hour film about the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe.
