New research from the University of Oxford examines the effectiveness of weight loss drugs, including Ozempic. The results show that GLP1 medications help with faster weight loss compared to older drugs, but also with faster weight regain after stopping treatment. The study, based on 37 studies with over 9,000 participants, showed that people lose an average of 8.3 kg with these medications, but regain 4.8 kg in the first year. The research highlights the importance of maintaining weight after medication, as stopping it can lead to rapid regain.
