Greece, Israel, and Cyprus to Intensify Joint Military Exercises in Eastern Mediterranean

Greece, Israel, and Cyprus are strengthening their military cooperation, with plans to intensify joint air and naval exercises in the eastern Mediterranean by 2026. This collaboration also includes defense procurements and energy cooperation, and is closely monitored by Turkey. The agreement to enhance cooperation was formalized with the signing of a joint action plan by senior military officials from the three countries in Cyprus. This followed a meeting of the leaders of Greece, Cyprus, and Israel in Jerusalem, where they signed an agreement to strengthen maritime security and promote energy interconnections. The military agreement includes joint exercises and the transfer of know-how from Israel to Greece and Cyprus to address various threats. Greece plans to participate in Israel's Noble Dina naval exercise. The two countries have already invested billions of euros in missile systems from Israel, while Greece is in talks to purchase additional anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic systems as part of the 'Achilles Shield' program, estimated to cost 3 billion euros.
