Greece, Israel, and Cyprus to Intensify Joint Military Exercises

Published December 29, 2025, 15:25

Greece, Israel, and Cyprus will intensify their joint air and naval exercises in the eastern Mediterranean in 2026, deepening their cooperation in the field of defense. This follows a joint action plan signed by military officials from the three countries in Cyprus. The agreement comes after a meeting between the Prime Ministers of Greece and Israel and the President of Cyprus, where an agreement was signed to strengthen maritime security and promote energy interconnection projects. The military cooperation will include joint naval and air exercises, as well as the transfer of know-how from Israel to Greece and Cyprus to address various threats. Greece plans to participate in Israel's upcoming “Noble Dina” naval exercise. Turkey is closely monitoring the growing cooperation between the three countries. An opposition party in Cyprus, AKEL, expressed reservations about deepening military-political cooperation with Israel. Greece and Cyprus have already purchased missile defense systems from Israel, while Greece is in talks to purchase additional defense systems, including the “Achilles Shield” program worth 3 billion euros.
