Road Closures and Parking Restrictions in Nicosia for Cypriot Presidency Inauguration

The Nicosia Police announced a series of traffic arrangements and parking restrictions due to the inauguration ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will take place today, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the building of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (CTO). The parking bans apply to several streets around the CTO, including Demostheni Severi Street, Gr. Auxentiou Street, Michail Karaoli Street, Lord Byron Street, Kosti Palama Street, Homer Street, Anastasiou Leventi Street, Evagoras Street, Diagoras Street, and Vassileos Pavlou Street. Additionally, the Municipality of Nicosia prohibits parking in two underground parking areas of the old GSP stadium throughout the day. Road closures will begin at 2:30 PM around the CTO, with full access control. Drivers are urged to comply with the regulations and the instructions of the police officers. Police emphasize the need to adhere to the measures for the smooth running of the ceremony. Furthermore, by order of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, the use of drones is strictly prohibited in the wider area of the CTO and the Conference Centre. The ban is valid throughout the Cypriot Presidency in the Council of the EU, with the exact coordinates being referred to in the relevant decree (K.D.P. 03/2026). These measures have been taken for security reasons and to avoid traffic chaos during this important event. Authorities request the understanding and cooperation of the public for the successful conduct of the inauguration ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency.
