Russia Criticizes West Over Greenland 'Threat' Claims

Russia strongly criticized the West for its statements regarding potential threats to Greenland from Russia and China, deeming them unacceptable and demonstrating the inconsistency of the West in applying the so-called “rules-based order.” Spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, pointed out that the West initially claimed the existence of aggressors and then emphasized the need to protect against them. Zakharova also stated that Moscow considers the deployment of military forces by Western countries as part of a potential peace agreement for Ukraine unacceptable, warning that any such soldiers would be considered legitimate targets. Furthermore, Russia condemned the use of coercive tactics and threats against Cuba by US President Donald Trump, calling it unacceptable, especially given the island's long-standing economic sanctions. Finally, the Netherlands and Finland announced the dispatch of military personnel to Greenland, joining other European countries such as France, Sweden, Germany, and Norway amid rising tensions in the Arctic region.
