Saint Nina the Equal-of-the-Apostles: Celebrated on January 14th

Today, January 14th, the Church commemorates Saint Nina the Equal-of-the-Apostles. Saint Nina, originally from Cappadocia, was a relative of Saint George the Trophy-Bearer and played a crucial role in spreading Christianity in Georgia in the 3rd century AD. According to tradition, Saint Nina received a cross made of vine branches from the Virgin Mary and, through her faith and preaching, managed to convince the kings Mirian and Nana to embrace Christianity. Her memory is particularly honored in Georgia, where she is considered the patron saint of the country.
