Seeking to Collect Debts - 'Name and Shame' Policy Yields Results

The Famagusta Provincial Administration Council (EPOA) is implementing a 'name and shame' policy for its major debtors, aiming to pressure them to settle their debts. This announcement, combined with the requirement to provide a certificate of no debt for issuing permits, has led several debtors, mainly hoteliers and contractors with debts exceeding €90,000, to contact the EPOA for arrangements. The president of the EPOA, Yannis Karousos, is seeking approval from the Data Protection Commissioner to publish the list of debtors. The list includes 43 organizations with a total debt of €10 million.
