Severe Weather Expected on New Year's Eve: Caution Advised for Travel

New Year's Eve is expected to be challenging due to intense weather phenomena across Cyprus. The Meteorological Department warns of island-wide rains, isolated strong thunderstorms, and possible hail, with coastal areas (south, west, and north) being most affected. Warning bulletins (yellow or orange) are expected to be issued from Tuesday evening. Snowfall is forecast in the Troodos Mountains, but accumulations are not expected to cause significant road traffic problems. Temperatures will be slightly below normal for the season, around 14°C inland, 16°C on the coast, and close to 0°C on the peaks of Troodos, with the possibility of frost. Citizens are urged to be particularly careful when traveling, especially due to increased traffic for last-minute shopping, and to complete their tasks as early as possible.
