The severe weather is already causing significant problems in many parts of Greece. In Patras, strong winds have caused trees to fall, even onto parked vehicles, while ships remain docked at the Rio ferry terminal. In Corfu, antennas fell from an apartment building due to the winds, and in Chania, a power pole was moved. In Ierapetra, strong winds caused damage to greenhouses and other structures. The situation is particularly difficult in Gavdos, with a sailing boat and other small boats capsized, and a car swept away by the waves. Residents and personnel stationed on the island are facing problems with supplies and transportation. The authorities are on alert and are working to repair the damage and deal with the consequences of the bad weather. The mayor of Gavdos reports that conditions are also difficult for migrants on the island.
