“Small but Significant” Detail in Video Sparking Political Storm

A leaked video containing implications of illegal funding towards the Nikos Christodoulides Government has sparked a political storm in Cyprus. The Presidential Palace, the Police, and the Cyprus Intelligence Service (CYS) are on alert to identify those responsible for the leak and the creation of the video. The CYS has already launched an investigation and extracted some information, according to Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, without providing further details. Mr. Letymbiotis stated that there is no information regarding the “investors” mentioned in the video and dismissed reports of Russian involvement. However, cybersecurity expert Dinos Passtos points out an interesting detail: the video appears to have been posted by a user using a Turkish keyboard, as it contains the letters “ı” and “ş”, which do not exist in the English language but are present in Turkish. Mr. Passtos notes that this may be a deliberate tactic to mislead the investigation and divert researchers, rather than a genuine indication of identity. According to the expert, language always leaves traces.
