Additional measures have been implemented to address the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus, following a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture. These measures include 24-hour disinfection of vehicles crossing from the occupied territories to the free areas, intensified inspections of livestock farms, and increased communication with the authorities of the British Bases, the Police, the army, and farmers. Furthermore, guidelines will be provided to farmers on creating disinfection areas on their farms, and communication with Australian authorities will be established regarding the acceptance of halloumi shipments. A committee has also been formed, comprising representatives from the Veterinary Services and industry professionals, to continuously monitor and coordinate the response. So far, no other country has announced trade restrictions against Cyprus due to the incident.
