Storms Bring Problems – 24 Incidents Across Cyprus

Strong winds that hit Cyprus in the last 24 hours caused 24 incidents requiring the intervention of the Fire Service. The incidents mainly involved fallen and moved trees, as well as sparks in EAC cables due to the strong winds. In Nicosia, 13 incidents of fallen or moved trees were recorded, while in Limassol the Fire Service responded to six incidents, mainly fallen trees and sparks in cables. In Famagusta, one incident of a fallen tree was reported. The Fire Service was on high alert to deal with the consequences of the bad weather conditions. In some cases, the volunteer team "Support-CY" also assisted.
