Strovolos Municipality Accuses Former Mayor of Increasing Debts

The Strovolos Municipality accuses former Mayor Andreas Papacharalambous of failing to reduce a businessman's debt to the municipality, which exceeds 2 million euros. Instead, the debt increased despite negotiations and agreements made without the approval of the then-Municipal Council. The case came to light following reports in the 'Alithia' newspaper, which claims the municipality waived its priority in collecting the debts. The Strovolos Municipality responds that the new Municipal Council was informed of the issue immediately after taking office and is taking all necessary measures to collect the debts. Andreas Papacharalambous, for his part, denounces an orchestrated effort to tarnish his name with slander and lies, as he is a parliamentary candidate with ELAM.
