Thailand Train Crash: Death Toll Rises to 32

At least 32 people have been killed and over 60 injured, with three still missing, after a crane collapsed onto a passenger train in Thailand. The tragic incident occurred near Bangkok, on a railway line under construction for a new high-speed network supported financially by China. The crane belonged to a Thai company that has been involved in previous accidents. Authorities reported that there were 195 passengers on the train. Italian-Thai Development, the company responsible for the project, has taken responsibility for compensating the victims' families and covering the medical expenses of the injured. The high-speed railway project began in 2017 and has a budget of $5.4 billion, aiming to connect Bangkok with Kunming in China via Laos. Thailand insisted on covering the entire cost of the project to avoid excessive reliance on China. However, China provides technical support. The accident has shocked the public, and the Thai Prime Minister has called for a full investigation into the causes and accountability of those responsible. Furthermore, the creation of a 'blacklist' for construction companies responsible for repeated accidents has been proposed. Italian-Thai Development has already faced charges related to the collapse of a building in Bangkok in August, which resulted in 90 deaths.
